Yoga Retreats...
Chakra, Chanting and Sound Yoga Retreat at Ladywell Retreat Centre
Friday 29th November to Sunday 1st December
Body Wisdom Yoga invites you to a weekend residential retreat at the beautiful, peaceful and deeply spiritual Ladywell Retreat Centre. Set in the serene Surrey countryside, Ladywell sits among lovingly tended grounds with lots of beautiful places to walk or sit, relax and re-charge.
The theme- The Chakra System- this ancient concept of energy centres that sit along the spine and into the crown of the head governs just about every layer of our existence. Everything from the way we view the world to how connected we feel to ourselves, others and something greater is affected by the chakras. Each chakra has a different power, personal challenges and opportunities...
-Do you ever feel wobbly in your sense of belonging or dis-connected from your purpose? If so, it’s time to shore up the root chakra.
-Does life sometimes feel sterile and drab? If yes, the sacral chakra might need a creative boost.
-Ever feel stressed to the point of snapping or constantly running on anxiety and people pleasing? Time for some solar plexus chakra work.
-And how do we ride the emotion of being a human in a world like ours? We have to dig deep into the heart chakra’s compassion and maturity.
-How comfortable are we using our voice, making sound and being heard? The throat chakra can always do with a tune up!
-Is your mind frazzled by relentless thoughts, many of which are hostile to you? You’re not alone. Time for some work to surface the brow chakra’s peace.
-Want to live a little deeper? This is where our connection to the crown chakra comes in.
We’ll go through each of these energy centres in five one hour to 90-minute yoga sessions held over the weekend. This will include a yin yoga session using crystals and essential oils. A woodland walk and heart ritual. A ‘taking tea with your inner enemy’ meditation (spoiler alert! they’re actually your friend). Yoga for feelings of empowerment, grounding, inner safety and much more.
There will also be a special guest! To explore the energies of communication and the throat chakra professional singer, teacher and choir trainer Jenny Hansell is coming along to give us a Saturday night Vocal Work-Out. We’ll be exploring sound, getting the best out of your body and vocal apparatus so that you have the means to express yourself more fully. No sound or singing experience necessary for this fun vocal session.
Every session is optional and you can do as much or as little as you wish. There will plenty going on but if you prefer to take time for yourself to relax in the gardens, your room or the communal spaces it’s up to you. This is pure ‘you’ time.
Accommodation- Every room at Ladywell is available for single-occupancy at no extra cost and each has an en-suite. The rooms are spacious, bright and overlook the beautifully kept gardens and surrounding land. There are kitchenettes on every floor with tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge. Even though Ladywell is an old building the rooms were completely refurbished in 2020 and they have excellent heating and there is a lift for anyone who needs one. Visit https://franciscancentre.org.uk/about/gallery/ to see some pictures of the venue.
Food- The food at Ladywell is freshly and lovingly prepared on site. Three buffet style meals a day are served in the bright, airy dining-room and the following dietary requirements can be catered for- vegetarian, pescatarian, vegan, gluten free and dairy free. We’ll be full-board with tea and biscuits on arrival on Friday and dinner that night. There will be breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast and lunch on Sunday. If you have more complex dietary needs than those listed above, please get in touch and I’ll speak to Ladywell to see if they can accommodate.
Arrival, departure and a rough schedule- You’re invited to arrive from 4pm for tea and to find your room before the first yoga session starts at 5pm (if you need to arrive later that’s no problem- just let me know). On Sunday we’ll finish after lunch (at approximately 2pm). A full itinerary will be available nearer the time.
Cost- Full-board, including all sessions is £405 payable in full by 18th October. All payments are non-refundable. If you’d like to come but need to spread out your payments get in touch. There’s always a way to make it happen.
Transport- The full address of the venue is Franciscan Centre, Ladywell, Ashtead Lane, Godalming, Surrey GU7 1ST
